PARK CITY, Utah (May 14) � Ten athletes have been named to the U.S. Snowboard A Team for the 2002 season, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association said Monday. In addition, two riders will remain on the Training Team and another 12 have been named to the development squad.

The specific 2002 U.S. Olympic Team will be named in mid to late January.

The alpine list includes three riders with Olympic experience, among them Chris Klug (Aspen, CO) and Rosey Fletcher (Girdwood, AK). Klug and
Fletcher were the first two athletes named to the �98 Olympic Team. Both are members of the Training Team, meaning they choose to remain semi-independent and not take advantage of full Team funding. However, they operate as full Team members when it comes to training as they are
required to attend camps and are able to utilize the skilled U.S. coaches, trainers and wax technicians.

Sondra Van Ert (Ketchum, ID) owns the most competition experience of anyone on the Team. The �97 world giant slalom champion competed at the
�98 Olympics in Nagano, Japan, the first year that snowboarding was recognized as an Olympic sport.

Jeff Greenwood (Hartford, CT), Anton Pogue (Hood River, OR) and Stacia Hookom (Edwards, CO) round out the alpine team. Pogue picked up a bronze medal in parallel slalom at the �01 FIS World Championships in Italy.

The women�s freestyle team includes three of the best riders in the world. Tricia Byrnes (Stratton Mt., VT) Kelly Clark (Mt. Snow, VT) and Gretchen Bleiler (Snowmass Village, CO), have finished on the podium at least once in a major contest including Vans Triple Crowns, the U.S. Open, Chevy Truck U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix and the Sims World
Snowboarding Championships.

Tommy Czeschin (Mammoth Lakes, CA) heads up the men�s freestyle contingent. Czeschin, coming back from surgery after blowing out his
right knee in April, put together a solid �01 season, highlighted by a silver medal at the X Games.

Joining Czeschin is Park City local favorite and �99 FIS world champion Ricky Bower and former U.S. Open winner Rob Kingwill (Jackson, WY).
