The Boarding Network Marketplace: |

The Wave provides a good surfing workout and is really fun once you learn how to ride it. It's unique design allows you to simulate short board, carving turns on the street or sidewalk. The turning radius is significantly sharper than that of a surfboard, but with practice, you can draw out your lines and get a real mental feel of surfing.
I really liked if for a few more reasons: (1) The twisting motion on the horizontal axis provides a good workout for the stabilizing muscles of the legs; (2) The simulated carving turns provided the "core" torso muscles with a descent workout and stretch; and (3) It seems to keep balance and equilibrium sharp. I take it to the beach and ride it when it's crappy, which seems to be often lately, and it keeps me in tune for next swell. The rear wheel wears quickly so get spares at the time of purchase. Be careful! The first few attempts to ride it can be treacherous. However, once you get it down, it's really fun and easy. |
